What I am speaking into the New Year.

Having a birthday that also collides with New Year celebrations – brings its own kind of reflection. This overlap becomes a natural pause – the close of one year while intentionally stepping into the next.

NYE, I sat around in PJ’s surrounded by my girls and hubby was in the kitchen preparing the day’s feast. I was filled with joy knowing that this celebration was only one of the two and - I needed this one for the pause before entering 2026.

The 2nd celebration was simple but very intentional. I decided to have vision/prayer journal kind of evening – flipping through magazines for the creative feel we were looking for, gospel music playing in the background. O and take-out, three different places because we just couldn’t make up our minds. I dressed for the evening in, because yes, it’s a celebration.

Custom cookies are a must-have; it’s not a celebration without them. My cookie lady will forever come through with the vision.

So, my two-day crochet corset was styled with pleated pants that have been waiting to be worn. I did not take down my Tree, because why? Lol, we want all the season feels over here.

The main scripture that really came to mind and has been for the last seven years; life and death are in the power of the tongue. Proverbs 18:21 I’m becoming more aware of how often we speak casually over things God takes seriously – our purpose, our creativity, our capacity. I’m learning that intention isn’t just about what I plan, but about what I agree with out loud.

This year, I’m no longer accepting less from myself than what God has already placed inside of me. That means being mindful of how I speak about my work, my growth, and the pace I’m moving at. If God trusted me with these ideas, these gifts, and this vision, then I can trust myself to steward them well.

Entering this new year, I’m committed to speaking with clarity, faith and responsibility – especially when it comes to the things i’m building

Stepping into this year, I’m asking myself a simple but important question:

What am I being intentional about building – and what do my words say about it?

Curious to know: Would you be interested in seeing my crochet work move beyond accessories into wearable pieces, intentional, art-driven clothing made slowly and with purpose.
